Here’s 10 Essential Apps for Students Going Back to School

As we transition from August to September, many students are gearing up to head back to school. Whether you’re just starting or completing your final year, staying on top of your studies and keeping your life organized is crucial.

To help you achieve this, I’ve compiled a list of 10 essential apps that are sure to make your life easier.

1. Evernote

Evernote is an excellent note-taking app that allows you to organize notes and images, including audio recordings. Evernote is ideal for keeping track of lectures and materials.

2. Notion

Notion is one of my favourite apps because it’s incredible for organizing notes, to-do lists and project plans. You can use Motion to create a mood board for art or manage project details. Compared to Evernote, Notion is both a project management and note-taking software.

3. Quizlet

As a student, this was my favourite app during my studies. Quizlet lets you create your flashcards, and it’s effective for studying vocabulary, concepts and other materials. I used Quizlet for my French and Art History classes during my studies, and this app helped me a lot.

4. Grammarly

I think everybody has seen Grammarly’s ads on the internet. Spoiler alert: It’s worth the hype. Grammarly helps you catch grammar and spelling errors while making your writing polished. If you’re an international student, this might come in handy whether you’re writing essays or taking notes.

5. Khan Academy

Khan Academy offers diverse educational videos and tutorials on various subjects. It’s an excellent resource for increasing your learning.

6. Forest

This app is one of the most engaging apps on this list. Forest enables you to stay focused by planting virtual trees. Yes, you have heard it right. The longer you stay focused, the more your virtual forest grows. You grow virtual trees and earn coins by spending time away from your phone. Sounds fun, right?

7. Trello

Trello is a visual organization tool that utilizes boards, lists, and cards to help you organize tasks, projects, and assignments. You can use Trello for a group project because it delegates your team to manage any project, workflow, or assignment tracking.

8. Google Drive

Google Drive is a classic, but it saved my life during group projects. Google Drive allows you to create, store, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. The best part of Google Drive is its cloud storage for your files. Therefore, even if you lose your laptop/tablet, you can access all your documents via Google Drive.

9. Duolingo

This might be the most known app for learning a new language. Duolingo is the right app for you if you are studying a new language or want to practice more. I mostly used it before my French exams, which immensely helped me.

10. Sleep Cycle

The last app on the list is Sleep Cycle, a life-saver for maintaining a regular sleep schedule. The Sleep Cycle tracks your sleep patterns and wakes you during your lightest sleep phase. I have been using Sleep Cycle for a while and highly recommend it if you struggle with your sleep schedule.
