5 Things College Students Can’t Live Without

There are a lot of things that you need for college. Admit it: before coming to college, you asked all of your older friends, siblings, and checked every Pinterest blog there were about the necessities for college.

Yes, I’ve only been in college for 7 semesters and a half, but honestly, that is all it took to understand the things that any college student cannot, and I repeat cannot live without.

1. Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!

I literally thought coffee was the most disgusting thing ever before I came to college. Now coffee is at least 20 percent of my diet. I have at the very least two coffees a day (yes, I know it’s terrible, don’t judge me). It saves lives, people.

2. Headphones

I refuse to leave my room until I find my headphones. I can’t ignore people, pretend I don’t hear them and avoid millions of conversations that I otherwise would’ve had to have if it wasn’t for my amazing headphones. You don’t even need to plug them into something — just having it appear as if you have headphones is enough for most people to steer away.

PSA: Some people will still try to talk to you while you have headphones in. Those people are the ones you know you need to keep away from and turn your music up even louder.

3. Microwave (food!)

If you go to college in a snowy tundra, the winter will make you want to stay in your room. A microwave saved my life last semester, without it I literally would’ve starved because I was too broke to have food delivered every day, and I would’ve rather died than left my cozy heated room.

4. A cute hat

Yeah, I said a hat. I never really owned a baseball hat or anything because I felt I looked like a man and because I usually had time to get ready and do my hair. In college, there is no such thing as time. My hats have become useful in many ways:

  • It hides the hair that I decided not to wash or brush.
  • It hides my face that has no makeup and definitely has a zit coming in.

And the most important: It hides my eyes from the cutie on the shuttle I’m staring at (and maybe Snapchatted a picture of to my friends).

5. A good friend in each class

Yes, friends count as something you definitely need. They don’t necessarily have to be your friend. Just make sure your two or three buddies are cool enough that they will help you answer the questions on the study guide you forgot about or the paper that is due tomorrow.
