Rice University is a great place to come for vast opportunities, career exploration, professional development and more. If you don’t have a car, they give you a bus/metro rail pass. most professors were very open to adjusting for students’ needs, especially non-STEM professors.
The University made profs take training programs in online instruction and pedagogy specific to virtual learning to be more prepared for the upcoming semesters, heavy on virtual learning. Since April, the University has been sending out weekly updates on evolving covid-19 plans, which I very much appreciate.

California Institute of Technology academically has the most rigorous and intense coursework you will ever experience. The professors are amazingly competent, and it’s treated as no big deal to take a course taught by a Nobel-prize winner.
The classes are very theoretical, emphasizing proofs, so it’s not very industry-oriented (unless you study computer programming). Caltech is a very work hard play hard mentality.
