The list of top 10 universities in India as of now- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, JNU, BHU, Varanasi and Anna University Chennai.
1. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore
Among the BRICS nations’ rankings of universities in these countries, the Indian Institute of Science, IIS, and the University of Bangalore are top-ranked universities ranked based on their papers per faculty indicator and proportionality towards staff with doctorates.
The school currently enrolls 3,750 students at graduate or postgraduate levels while also commanding world rankings in some popular Fields like Electrical Engineering (1st), Chemical Engineering(3rd)and Materials Science. (5th).
2. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

9. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG)
Established in 1994, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) The institute ranked 52nd in the BRICS rankings and is present on 700 acres of sprawling campus on the east side of the Brahmaputra river. It is home to about 4,000 students.
IITG has about ten research institutes and is best for six disciplines, earning the greatest score in Engineering Mechanical (in the top 200). However, the National Integrated Ratings Framework placed it in the 7th spot and is ranked 101 in the Young Universities ranking 2018.
10. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur
