Best Universities in the United States 2017, the United States is home to some of the most prestigious universities in the world. Research company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released its annual rankings to determine the best schools. Eight of the top ten schools are in the US, with California Institute of Technology (Caltech) taking first place.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University, and Stanford University held their places in second, third, and fourth. The University of Cambridge and Imperial College London was the only non-US schools to make it into fifth and ninth place in the top ten. Other notable universities in the US include Princeton University (seventh), Yale University (eighth), and Johns Hopkins University (tenth).
