Fort Edmonton recently played host to northern Alberta’s largest Celtic gathering on July 9th and 10th. The community gathered to watch Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Breton, Manx and Cornish descendants line the streets.
Men wore kilts while throwing heavy objects. The Celtic kin demonstrated traditional dancing as well. They even held drumming competitions. I had the chance to learn about the Celtic community while I was working.
I was taught about Celtic traditions and traditional clothing from different bands across Alberta. I found the traditions to be bona fide engaging. I am delighted I was able to learn about this community. Below is a video of the Celtic people parading down the street.
